Terms of Service

Last updated: 18 September 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use LifeSpacer. Please read them — particularly part 8, which explains what LifeSpacer's AI features can and cannot be relied on for, and part 12, which explains the limits of our responsibility.

Nothing in these terms takes away the rights you have as a consumer under UK law.

1. Who we are and how to contact us

LifeSpacer is operated as a sole trader business by Edward James Manners, based in the United Kingdom. Our postal address is available on request from the contact address below.

Contact us at emjclifespacer@lifespacer.com. We aim to reply within 3 working days.

In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean LifeSpacer. "You" means the person using the service.

2. Who can use LifeSpacer

You must be 13 or over to create an account.

If you are under 18, you need permission from a parent or guardian before you sign up, and they must agree to these terms on your behalf. Only someone aged 18 or over can buy a paid subscription.

Adults can add other family members — including children under 13 — to a family group. Those members do not get their own login. If you add someone to your family group, you are confirming you are entitled to enter their details, and you are responsible for telling them what you have shared and pointing them at our Privacy Notice.

3. Your account

You can sign in with an email address and password, or with your Google account. Email verification and password recovery are handled through our platform provider, Base44.

Your email account and, where applicable, your password or Google account are important to keeping your LifeSpacer account secure. Keep them secure. If you think someone else has access to your LifeSpacer account, tell us straight away.

You are responsible for what happens under your account. Give us accurate information and keep your email address up to date so you can receive verification and account-security messages.

4. Family groups

LifeSpacer works by putting a household into a shared family group.

  • Whoever creates a family group is its admin. Admins can add and remove members and change family settings.
  • Anyone with the family's invite code can join it. Treat the invite code like a key to your family's calendar and share it only with people you intend to have full access.
  • Everyone in a family group can see everything in it. There are no private events, hidden lists or per-member permissions within a group. Do not put anything in LifeSpacer that you would not want every member of your family group to read.
  • If you leave or are removed from a family group, you lose access to its content. Content you created stays with the family group.

5. Your content

Everything you put into LifeSpacer stays yours. We do not claim ownership of your events, tasks, lists or notes.

You give us permission to store, copy, display and transmit that content, and to process it through the suppliers listed in our Privacy Notice, purely so we can run the service for you. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account.

You are responsible for the content you enter. By entering it you confirm you have the right to, and that it does not break the law or infringe anyone else's rights.

6. What you must not do

Do not use LifeSpacer to:

  • break the law, or help anyone else to
  • store or share content that is abusive, harassing, defamatory or obscene
  • upload anything containing malware, or try to break, probe or overload the service
  • get around technical limits, including fair-use limits on date scanning
  • scrape, copy or resell the service or its content
  • impersonate someone else, or add someone to a family group in order to monitor them without their knowledge
  • use the service to hold information about people who have no connection to your household

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will warn you first and give you a chance to put it right.

7. Connecting other services

You can connect calendar feeds (Google, Outlook or an ICS address) and school fixture feeds, and ask us to look up term dates from a school's website.

  • We read those sources; we do not write back to them.
  • A calendar feed URL usually grants access to that calendar to anyone who has it. Only add feeds you are entitled to share with your family group.
  • We are not responsible for the accuracy or availability of information published by a school, a calendar provider or any other third party. If a school publishes the wrong term dates, LifeSpacer will show the wrong term dates.
  • If a feed stops working, we will record the error and show it to you, but we may not be able to fix the source.

8. AI features — what they are and are not

LifeSpacer uses AI for optional features including reading images or PDFs for dates, extracting events from email content you submit, helping you manage events, tasks and shopping lists through the assistant, drafting email replies, and extracting school dates from text or files you choose to submit. School-date sorting by year group and team is only run when you explicitly start the sorting tool.

Voice input uses your browser's speech-recognition capability to turn speech into text; if you submit that text to the assistant, it is processed as part of the assistant request.

These features produce suggestions, not facts. Extracted events are added as proposed and must be confirmed by you before they become part of your calendar. Check them.

AI extraction can and does get things wrong. It can misread handwriting, guess the wrong year when a date has no year printed on it, misassign an event to the wrong family member, or miss an event entirely. We tell you the confidence level and flag anything ambiguous, but the final check is yours.

Do not rely on LifeSpacer alone for anything that matters — medical appointments, exam dates, flights, court dates, or anything where being wrong has real consequences. Keep the original letter.

Fair-use limits apply to date scanning. We will tell you when you are near the limit.

9. Subscriptions and payment

LifeSpacer has two plans:

  • Free allows up to 2 people with their own login and up to 2 profiles without a login, and includes a limited monthly allowance of AI features shared across the household.
  • Family gives premium features to everyone in the household, and allows up to 6 people with their own login and up to 10 profiles without a login.

Family can be paid monthly or yearly. What each plan includes and what it costs is shown in the app before you buy.

Who gets premium features. On Family, everyone in the family group gets them. If someone in your household already has Family, you do not need a subscription of your own.

Free trial. The first time you take out Family, you get a 30-day free trial. You give a payment method when the trial starts, but you are not charged during it. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription starts automatically and you are charged the monthly or yearly price you chose, on the day the trial ends. You can cancel at any time during the trial in Settings and you will not be charged. We will remind you before the trial ends. Each account can have one free trial.

How billing works

  • Payment is handled by Stripe. We never see your card details.
  • Monthly plans renew automatically each month until you cancel.
  • Yearly plans are paid in full at the start of the year and renew automatically each year until you cancel. They cost less than paying monthly for twelve months.
  • You can cancel at any time in Settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for — the end of the month on a monthly plan, or the end of the year on a yearly one — and you keep access until then.
  • We do not give partial refunds for unused time, except where the law requires it or where we have got something wrong. On a yearly plan, that means cancelling part-way through the year does not refund the remaining months.
  • If we change our prices, we will tell you at least 30 days beforehand. The period you have already paid for is unaffected; a new price applies from your next renewal. If you do not want to pay it, cancel before then.
  • If a payment fails, we may downgrade you to the free tier. Your data stays where it is.

If your household size changes. If you move to a plan that allows fewer members than you currently have, or a subscription ends, you keep all your data but will not be able to add new members until you are back under the limit.

Your 14-day cancellation right. As a consumer you normally have 14 days to change your mind about a digital service. If you ask us to start your subscription immediately, you agree that the service begins straight away and you accept that you lose that 14-day right once it has been fully performed. If you cancel within 14 days and we have only partly performed, you pay only for what you have used. This applies to yearly plans in the same way as monthly ones.

10. Availability and changes

We want LifeSpacer to be available whenever you need it, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. We may need to take it down for maintenance, and things break.

LifeSpacer is a young product and still developing. We may add, change or withdraw features. If we withdraw something you rely on and you are on a paid tier, we will tell you in advance and you may cancel and receive a refund for the unused part of your term.

We may change these terms. If a change is material, we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email or in the app. If you do not accept it, you can close your account before it takes effect.

11. Closing your account

You can close your account at any time in Settings. When you do, your data is deleted in line with the retention periods in our Privacy Notice.

If you are the only admin of a family group, closing your account affects everyone in it. Hand admin over first if the group is to continue.

We may close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we stop offering the service. Other than where you have broken these terms, we will give you at least 30 days' notice and a way to export your data, and refund any unused paid time.

12. Our responsibility to you

We will provide LifeSpacer with reasonable care and skill, as the Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires.

We do not limit or exclude our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.

Subject to that, we are not responsible for:

  • losses that were not foreseeable at the time you agreed these terms
  • business losses — LifeSpacer is for personal and household use
  • the consequences of an event LifeSpacer showed you incorrectly, or failed to show you, where the underlying source was wrong or where an AI-extracted event was not checked as part 8 asks you to
  • the availability or accuracy of third-party services and feeds you connect
  • loss caused by someone getting into your email account

Where we are liable, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the problem arose, or £100.

We will keep backups, but you are responsible for keeping your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. You can export your data at any time.

13. Complaints

If something has gone wrong, tell us. Email emjclifespacer@lifespacer.com with "Complaint" in the subject line and include your account email and what happened.

  • We will acknowledge within 5 working days.
  • We will investigate and give you a substantive answer within 30 days. If we need longer, we will tell you why and when to expect one.
  • If you are not satisfied, say so and we will review it again.

For complaints about how we handle your personal information, our Privacy Notice sets out your right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

If we cannot resolve a dispute between us, you may be able to use an alternative dispute resolution scheme. We are not currently signed up to one, but we will consider any reasonable proposal you make.

14. Other things

Transferring this agreement. You cannot transfer your rights under these terms to someone else. We may transfer ours if our business changes hands, and we will tell you if we do. Your rights will not be affected.

If part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies.

If we do not enforce a term straight away, that does not mean we have given up the right to do so later.

Nobody else has rights under this agreement. These terms are between you and us.

Law and courts. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in your own courts.
